Property Description The BEACH HOTEL JAGUAR is located 25 miles from the center of Limón province (Caribbean coast of Costa Rica). It is located in front of Playa Negra, 1Km north of the center of town. Or you can also say it is 300m North of the Soccer field. The rooms are spacy and have a natural ventilation given by the raised up roofs. There is a kitchen/common room area with Refrigerator, Microwave, Stove, coffee maker and all the basic utensil to perform a good meal -just for a change- Each room has a private bath and covered terrace. There are 5 rooms with 2 bunk beds (shared) and 4 with 2 double beds (private). Fruit trees, some wild vegetation and the amazing wildlife is part of the surroundingsll (agoutis, sloths, iguanas, poisonous frogs, butterflies, alot of birds, toucans, tanagers, hummingbirds,etc.- can be spotted. The place has other -more pricy - accomodations ask the office. Sharing a room has never been so comfortable and affordable!

Good hostel but a long way out of town (10-15 minute walk). It was very quiet. I was the only person in the 6 bed dorm which was a nice change.

ADDRESS Cabinas Algebra Cahuita Cahuita, Costa Rica DIRECTIONS How to find us: You can reach Cahuita by car from San José via route 32. The road passes through National Parc Braullio Carillo, Guapiles, Limón to Cahuita. At the first entrance to Cahuita you will find our sign saying “Cabinas Algebra & Restaurant Bananas”. Turn left and after 500 m again to the left, after 50m we are in front of “Hotel La Diosa”. You also can reach Cahuita easily by directbuses. They leave San José at 6 am, 10 am, 12 am, 2 pm and at 3.30 pm. We meet all our guests personally at the bus stop. There are also minivans which travel from hotel to hotel.

Personally, you can't beat the location, the whole town is literally feet from the beach. The cabinas are a little out of town, but luckily, they have 2 bikes for rent at $3 per person, per day, which make it fun to travel around the area. The owners of the cabinas were very friendly and helpful and they picked us up and dropped us off at the bus stop. The only thing is that due to the hot and humid conditions, things were a little sticky in the room. The sheets and towels didn't seem to be so fresh and there is but a tiny fan to keep you cool. The property is nice and they have a little restaurant too, so that is a plus.

There are only three cabins at this hostel, but they were amazing. The restaurant had some of the most delicious food I ate in Costa Rica. The staff was incredibly accomodating - they drive us into town/bus stop/etc. The bathrooms - and rooms, in general - were super spacious and a short walk from the "downtown" area. 

Property Description We have two nice bungalows, with private bathroom, kitchen, hot shower, a nice tropical garden. A large house for five people, with a billiard table and a souvenir shop The bungalows are conveniently located close to the beach. We provide nice attention to tourists and a nice and quiet place all natural with birds and surrounded with animals. Cahuita National Park is located just south of the town of Cahuita, about 43 kilometers south of Limón, on the Caribbean coastline in one of the most beautiful and scenic regions in Costa Rica. Its main attractions are the white sand beaches fringed with endless coconut trees, a calm sea of transparent waters and the coral reefs just offshore. Most of Cahuita consists of a swamp located in the depression that lies between the coral platform and the mainland. Other habitats in the park are inundated mixed forest and littoral woodlands. The most interesting feature of the park is a shipwreck located on the north of the mouth of the river Perezoso, which sank in the 18th century and was used to transport slaves. All the rooms are special for couples or families; they have at least one double bed.

For the money this hostel was very average but our main issue was that the owner knew nothing of our booking (made 4 days previously) and told us it was not her problem and that we should have called to confirm - somewhat defeating the whole point of booking through hostel world.
