If you wish to purchase Yucatecan hammocks, please read first our recommendations on the green notice boards on the hall to avoid being over charged. Do not pay more than 250 pesos!

Bus Tickets: If you wish to buy 1st class tickets, you can order them from the reception. The bus company (ADO) delivery fee is 12 pesos, independently of the number of tickets purchased. Nomadas Hostel does not charge for the phone call.

If you wish to purchase a flight ticket to Mexico City, Cuba, Canada, USA, Europe, Central and South America or any place in the world ask the front desk to contact our travel agency Nomadas Travel.

We also offer guided tours with transportation (hostel-ruins-hostel) included to Uxmal, Kabah and Chichen Itza from 215 pesos. and Cenotes Tours 295 PESOS.These low prices are exclusive for our guests.

For trips by yourself to the Cenotes of Cuzama, Uxmal, Celestun, Chichen Itza, Progreso, Uaymitum, etc all information is in the front desk.

With relation to the Internet reservations, we remind the guest that any cancellation will have to be effected by a minimum of 24 hours of precedence to the hostel arrival. Nevertheless, after the guest arrival the cancellation of the posterior days of the reservation, it'll have a surcharge of 50 % on the total amount.

Every three days you may request a new set of clean sheets.

From Bus Station / Desde la Terminal de Autobuses:

From Airport / Desde el Aeropuerto:

 Bus: Outside the airport you can take a bus that comes to downtown every 30 minutes and will leave you 8 blocks away from Nomadas. Its name is 'Aviacion 69'.
Price: $.50 cents of dollar
Time of the trip: 35 minutes

 Taxi: Walk 1 km and take a taximeter taxi per 4 usd dollar.
You can take a taxi from the airport and get directly to Nómadas.
Price: $9 USD
Time fo the trip: 20 minutes

 Autobús: Afuera del aeropuerto pasa un autobús cada 30 minutos que va al Centro Histórico y que te dejará en la calle a 8 cuadras de Nómadas. Se llama « Aviacion 69 »
Precio: $.50 centavos de dólar.
Duración del trayecto: 35 minutos. Ultimo horario hasta las 8 pm

 Taxi: Puedes caminar 1 km desde el aeropuerto hasta la AV Itzaes cerca del aeropuerto y alli podras tomar un taxi con taximetro por 40 pesos hasta el Hostel.

Tambien puedes tomar el taxi del aeropuerto y llegar directamente a Nómadas.

To give you an Idea of how much I have traveled; I shall just say that for fifteen and a half years, from 1970 to 1986 I was married to a IATA travel agent, so she had 90% and I had 75% discount on our airline tickets.
I am the owner of the home in Merida that bears no name. I speak English quiite well, some French, a little Italian and a few words in many other languages. I am always available if you need me.So I know exactly how to please you with a safe, cool, comfortable and ecological place in a fun area..
It is AN AUTHENTIC COLONIAL house, which was home to my ancestors for many generations. We are THE BEST LOCATED HOSTEL IN MERIDA according to The English Publication 'Hidden Magazine'
All of our rooms have at least a full size bed, a twin bed and a private bath with hot water. They all are spacey enough to allow us to comfortably add an extra bed when needed. Some have a large private terrace.
We have large private rooms for 2 to 6 people and larger dorms with their own integrated bathrooms and capacities up to 12
We have solar-butane water heaters so the sun heats the water and not the building. The air intakes to our dorms pass though mini gardens of 'Galanes de noche'; these are exotic tropical plants whose flowers emit a super healthy night perfume. This together with taking advantage of the architectonic properties of the building and proper management of air circulation allows certain control of the inside temperature giving us a unique ecological air conditioning system. You do not need to spend a lot to be able to sleep comfortably and away from the local heat.

Fortunately, while on a journey; I learned from a very wise elderly Chinese man that the word crisis, in the language of the Mandarin-Chinese also carries the concept of opportunity.
In view of this and to honor the teachings of the men from Chung Wa:
I have I have extensively searched the Internet and reviewed it to the best of my ability for any complaints or negative reviews on or about our hostel.. I have taken and shall systematically keep on taking all the necessary steps to correct any deficiencies that have arisen or that may arise in the future. Also for the next calendar year. upon your checking in for a dorm bed, shoot the dice, if you get the same number as that of the month, you get
............ AN ADDITIONAL NIGHT FREE.
From January to June, you get one chance with one dice. In July and August you get it free, if your birth date falls on that month.n Sept shoot a pair dice once, in October, twice. In November, thrice, and 4 times in December. Also If I am not at the hostel I shall always carry my cel-phone and the hostel will put you in direct contact with me any time 24/7.

DIRECTIONS

Just locate the ZOCALO (PLAZA MAYOR or Main Square). As you stand on 60th Street (Main Street) facing the Cathedral walk 2 blocks north (to your left) to 57th street. You will be at the corner of 60th and 57th. You will see the 'CASA DEL BALAM HOTEL'. We are next door to it on 57th and have a yellow sign that only reads 'HOSTEL'.

Finding the 'ZOCALO' from the main bus stations (CAME and 2nd class):
Stand at the corner of 69th and 70th Streets. It's the corner to your left as you exit from any of them. Walk northward (away from the stations) on 70th for 3 blocks to 63rd. Turn right on 63rd walk 4 blocks and you are there. Cross the square diagonally and you will be standing in front of the cathedral. (By the way you can buy bus tickets at the main square and avoid long lines at the bus station).

You can also catch a cab in front of these stations. The authorized tariff as of Dec. 2005 is of 30 Pesos (under U.S. $3). The driver may try to charge you more or try to steer you away to another place saying that we are closed or otherwise. If you want to save a few pesos, walk to your left, to the corner of El Español hotel there you can catch a TAXIMETRO cab ( that is any color exept white with a red stripe) these will charge you about 10 or 12-..

From the Airport:
For only 4.50 Pesos (US $0.40) you can take a bus right in front of the terminal it will say '69 AEROPUERTO'. Take it all the way to its terminal. As you exit the bus walk right to the corner of 62nd street.
Turn left on 62nd and walk 2 blocks to the ZOCALO. Cross it diagonally and you will be in front of the Cathedral.
There is a shared cab service office just outside the terminal on the left side as you exit. Be sure to get your ticket at this office to avoid been cheated.

DIRECTIONS

Directions from the airport:

As you exit the airport, turn right onto Avenida Itzaes. Continue north until you reach Calle 59 (at the far end of the Merida Centennial Zoo, which will be on your right hand side). Turn right on Calle 59 and continue to Calle 56. Turn left onto Calle 56 to Calle 51.
Turn right to Calle 51, and Hostal del Peregrino will be the blue house on your right.
Most times of the day, you will be able to park on the street. If you don't find parking, double park and send someone in to our front desk. We'll find you a place in our parking lot.

Directions from the ADO bus station:

Upon leaving the station, turn left and walk straight ahead to Calle 61. Turn right on Calle 61, and continue walking past the Zocalo. At Calle 56, turn left. Continue to Calle 51. Turn right on Calle 51, and Hostal del Peregrino is the large blue building on your left.

Directions from the Fiesta Americana bus station:

Upon leaving the bus station, go towards the Fiesta Americana. Just beyond the hotel is the Paseo de Montejo, one of Merida's main avenues. Turn right on Paseo de Montejo and proceed south to the end. If you are in a car, turn right at the roundabout and then left on Calle 58. Proceed to Calle 55. Turn left on Calle 55 to Calle 56. Turn left on Calle 56 to Calle 51. Turn right on Calle 51, and Hostal del Peregrino is the blue house on your right. If you are walking, turn left at the roundabout to Calle 56. Turn right on Calle 56 and proceed down to Calle 51. Turn left on Calle 51 and Hostal del Peregrino will be the blue house on your right.

Taking a Taxi:

Just ask your taxi driver to take you to the corner of Calle 56 and Calle 51 in the Centro. In Spanish, that looks like: "La esquina de Calle Cinquenta y seis y Calle Cinquenta y uno en el Centro".
