Property Description 'The Original New Orleans Hostel.' From $25 and up, jazz it up New Orleans style at the best hostel in the City. Groups should contact us direct for information on our separate facilities and special discounted rates for groups.
Located in the 'heart and soul' of the 'new' New Orleans, our area was high and dry during hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Unlike many areas of New Orleans that flooded, our part of the city is thriving. Experience the 'real' New Orleans with its cafes, 24 hour bars, coffee houses, and great music just outside our doors.
With one of the best locations in the City, we are only minutes away by bus from downtown and the lively French Quarter. We are the closest hostel to the Greyhound & Amtrak Stations, and the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau. Most shops, cafes, bars, groceries, delis, and coffee houses have reopened in our area and are within walking distance of our hostel. Explore the nearby Garden District with its antebellum mansions & gardens, above ground cemetery, and century old oak trees.
We are a great location to attend the Jazz Fest, as a free bus line just one block away goes within two blocks of the Jazz Festival Fairgrounds. Be sure to book in advance for Halloween (Oct. 31, 2006), the New Year's holiday (Dec. 30-Jan. 1, 2006), Mardi Gras (Feb. 17-Feb. 28, 2006), and Jazz Fest (April 28-30 and May 5-7, 2006). Contact the hostel direct for reservations during the peak Mardi Gras weekend of Feb. 24-28, 2006, if no availability is listed. Private rooms for Mardi Gras (Feb. 17-28, 2006) and Jazz Fest weekends (April 28-30 & May 5-7, 2006) must be booked direct with the hostel. We are located only 1 block off the major Mardi Gras parade route. (Please note: There may not be Mardi Gras parades on the weekdays of Feb. 20-23, 2006 this year.)
Marquette House is located in a village like complex of New Orleans style buildings. We offer comfortable spacious male and female dormitory style accommodations. Each dormitory has its own ensuite toilet, shower, and 2-3 lavatory sinks. We also offer private dorms with ensuite bath for 1 or more persons with linens & towels included. Double rooms with private bath, queen size bed, and refrigerator are also available.
Check in is temporarily available only between the hours of 7am to 12noon and 5pm to 10pm daily, but once you check in you have 24 hour access to your dormitory or private room.
Exchange experiences with fellow travelers from all over the world in our tree shaded patios and gardens. Join other guests at nearby cafes, restaurants, and night clubs until the early hours or prepare a meal in the outdoor BBQ area.
Experience the uniqueness of doing your laundry while you sip a beer or play pool at the nearby Igors 24 hour lounge and laundromat. Several banks, hotels, cafes, coffee houses, 24 hour bars, a drugstore, two neighborhood groceries, a gas station, the New Orleans Visitors Center, the second oldest above ground cemetery, and several museums are within easy walking distance of the hostel. Several bus lines going to downtown, the French Quarter, the Jazz Fest Fairgrounds, and other parts of the City pass within 1 to 6 blocks of the hostel.
Weekly and monthly dormitory and private room rates are also available. A $10 refundable cash key deposit is required upon arrival. An ATM is located at a bank just one block away. | Property Facilities
