Arriving From:

San Diego Train Station:
when you arrive in San Diego call for free transport to hostel!
Bus/Trolley directions: Take the Blue Line Trolley from the Train station to the Old Town transit Center. From there take the #35 bus (comes every 30 minutes) to Ocean Beach, and ask to get off on Newport Ave.

From San Diego Airport:
Call Hostel when you arrive for free transport !
You can't just take the Shuttle (you must call Hostel for name of Shuttle). Driver will take you to office for his voucher. If you are more than one traveler call the Hostel for special transport arrangements.

From San Diego Greyhound Bus Station:
Call Hostel when you arrive for free transport to the hostel! Bus Directions from Greyhound: Weekdays, take the #923 (express) bus and ask to get off on Newport Ave. During the time when the express bus is not running call the Hostel to order a cab for you.

Car
Going South from Los Angeles-
Drive southbound on the Interstate 5 and exit at Sea World Dr. Stay in the right lanes and continue onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Make a right turn on Newport Ave. The OBI Hostel is on the left side: 4961 Newport Ave.

Going North from Tijuana Mexico -
Drive northbound on the Interstate 5 and connect to the HWY. 8 West. Stay on HWY. 8 West until the freeway ends. Turn left onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Continue on Sunset Cliffs Blvd and make a right turn on Newport Ave. The OBI Hostel is on the left side: 4961 Newport Ave.

Coming East from Arizona -
Drive westbound on HWY. 8. Stay in the right lane on HWY. 8 West until the freeway ends. Turn left at end of freeway, onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Continue on Sunset Cliffs Blvd and make a right turn on Newport Ave. The OBI Hostel is on the left side: 4961 Newport Ave.

The Point Loma Hostelling International Hostel is located two miles from San Diego's famous Ocean Beach in the relaxed neighborhood of Point Loma. We are the only hostel that has easy, accessible and free parking. We are also the only family friendly hostel in San Diego.

Ocean Beach and its accompanying nightlife, cafes, restaurants, shops and weekly Farmer's Market are just a short stroll away. Nearby Sea World and Mission Bay are just a 5 minute drive or 20 minute bus ride away. Balboa Park, with its museums and the world famous San Diego Zoo, and Downtown San Diego are 10 or 30 minutes away by car and bus respectively.

The hostel features a laid-back atmosphere with a beautiful, sunny courtyard complete with table tennis, a fire pit, and plenty of spots to relax. There is also a large, open kitchen that's perfect for cooking and sharing your favorite meals and a comfy, spacious lounge with a big screen TV and DVD player. Affordable internet access is available as well as a wireless connection. Weekly dinners, barbecues, and movie nights are conducted by helpful hostel staff.

A variety of dorms, private and family rooms are available.

DIRECTIONS

AIRPORT: Bus: Walk out to North Harbor Drive and catch bus #922/923 on the airport side of the street. Get off the bus at Voltaire and Poinsettia. Walk across the street down Poinsettia and turn right onto Udall. The hostel is the red building on the right. This bus only runs Mon-Fri. *****As of June 11, 2006, the #923 will run 7 days a week every half hour.*****

By Car/Taxi: From airport terminal, take a right on North Harbor Dr, another right on Nimitz, and yet another right on Chatsworth, then left at Poinsettia and left again at Udall. We are a block ahead on the right. Beware! San Diego cab drivers seem to have little knowledge of the area, so give them directions. Should only be a $10 ride.

Car: Take I-8 all the way west. When it ends, it will dump you onto a street called Sunset Cliffs. Follow that to Voltaire, turn left. Continue up the hill to Worden and turn right. We are a block ahead on the left.
Heading south, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit. Head west, and follow signs for Sunset Cliffs. Follow directions above.

Train: Stay at the station, board the next trolley headed for Mission San Diego. Get off at Old Town and transfer to the #35 Bus to Ocean Beach. Get off the bus at Voltaire and Poinsettia. Walk across the street down Poinsettia and turn right onto Udall. The hostel is the red building on the right. *****As of June 11, 2006, the #35 will no longer serve Voltaire St. Take bus #923 to Voltaire and Poinsettia, follow directions as above.*****

Bus: Walk west on Broadway to the Trolley/Train Station. Follow the directions above.

To check in you will need to present one of the following types of identification: A valid foreign passport, a Canadian driver's license or a current out of state college ID with out-of-state government issued id (driver's license, etc). You may also be asked to provide proof of current international travel. People under the age of 16 are not permitted to stay in dorm rooms. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone. Mixed dorms are reserved for couples or siblings travelling together. Couples must reserve two beds.

DIRECTIONS

From Greyhound: Exit station onto Broadway and turn left, walk 4 blocks until you come to 5th Avenue, turn right and walk 2 1/2 blocks down 5th Avenue. You will see a row of international flags hanging from our building. Our front door is between two Itlian restaurants.

From Amtrak: Exit station onto Kettner Boulevard and turn right. At Broadway (1/2 block) turn left and follow above directions.

Driving:
From I-5 South take Front Street exit. Exit ramp divides, keep right on Front Street ramp. Take Front street to G Street, turn left onto G. Take G six blocks to 5th Avenue, turn left onto 5th, we are the third door in from the corner - between two Italian restaurants.
From I-5 North take J Street exit. Bear left at 19th Street and turn left onto Market Street. Take Market 14 blocks to 5th Avenue. Turn right onto 5th, the hostel is one block up on the right hand side, between two Italian restaurants.

Please keep in mind our reception is closed from 2:00 to 07:00am Sunday through Thursday and 2:30 to 7:00 am Friday and Saturday. If you think you'll be arriving when we're closed, please email us at sandiego@usahostels.com to let us know so that we can have someone wait for you.
