Property DescriptionLocated 23 beautiful miles north of Fairbanks in the Historic Chatanika Gold Country. Scenically located on 48 Acres the Hostel is situated in the wilds of interior Alaska. A full service restaurant, lodge and saloon is located on site. Summer and Winter Activities: Various year round entertainment activites make this a great place combine fun and relaxation. Contact us for current listings. Outdoor activities abound, both on the resort grounds and the immediate area. Wide open spaces of interior Alaska allow you to explore trails for hiking, walking, wildlife viewing, biking, berry picking, and four wheeling. Gold panning is available nearby. Close view of Gold Dredge #3. Chatanika river allows for fishing, canoeing, and just plain fun! This is a great gateway for exploring the White Mountains Recreation Area. Chatanika Hostel is famous for viewing the 'Northern Lights' (Aurora Borealis) during the 'dark' months. You will not find a better place on Earth to see the 'lights'. Winter activities include trails for snowmachining, cross country skiing. A downhill ski/snowboarding hill is close by. In March the famous and unique 'Outhouse Races' take place in Chatanika (filmed by CNN) First Alaskan winter breakup Harley Ride (usually in March or April with more than 200 participants). The Gold Camp is also the perfect spot to view wildlife in its natural surroundings. During the summer and winter, moose roam the 55 acres in search of food. Fox, Wolves, Porcupines, and even Wolverines may be seen. During the warmer months, some beautiful birds and unique Alaskan flowers can be seen. |

ADDRESSChatanika Gold Camp 5550 Steese Hwy Fairbanks, USA DIRECTIONSThe Historic Chatanika Gold Camp is located 23.5 miles outside of Fairbanks on the Old Steese Highway. Drive north out of Fairbanks on the NEW Steese Expressway. Follow the sings to "Fox" and "Circle". This will turn into the OLD Steese Hwy at Fox. Continue to head toward "Circle". At Milepost 23 watch for the sign indicating a right turn up the drive to the Gold Camp. |
