Property DescriptionEl Cenote Azul, which literally means blue underground lagoon, is a small 18 bed oasis on the South Side of Mexico City close to the Metro Copilco and a two minute walk to the National University of Mexico, the largest in Latin America. Our café, frequented by Mexican students provides a perfect opportunity to practice your Spanish in a relaxed atmosphere. Just to the north is Coyoacan, known for its street theatre, artists, musicians and home to many historical sites and cultural centres, the most famous being Frida Kahlo's, Diego Rivera's and Leon Trotsky's houses. Coyoacan, with its many small bars, restaurants and theatres also has quite an active nightlife. You won't need to go downtown for the bright lights! To the north-east lies colonial San Angel where the open air markets that line the cobbled streets sell a wide variety of traditional Mexican art. To the South, Cuicuilco, the only circular pyramids and the floating gardens of Xochmilco bring our prehispanic ancestors closer. We, the Ley Cooper family, have opened our home to travellers with the idea of facilitating interaction between locals and foreigners to enrich our community. In our home, world music resounds, complementing our diverse and innovative menu, with recipes such as French crepes filled with Aztec huitlacoche mushrooms, Italian pastas topped with Mexican chorizo, and even cheese-stuffed chilli peppers in Asian mango sauce.  |

ADDRESSEl Cenote Azul Alfonso Pruneda #24 Copilco Mexico City, Mexico DIRECTIONSBy subway (METRO): you should look out for the green line which goes from Indios Verdes Station to Universidad Station, you want Universidad Direction. The Copilco station which is our stop is the one before Universidad . Copilco Station is located in the corner of Eje 10 and Cerro del Agua street so you must walk along the street Cerro del Agua (its got trees in the middle) towards the University (UNAM) main gate. Once you reach the University gate you turn to the left (without entering the University ) following the primary schools fence, then left again, and you will be one block away from the ‘Alfonso Pruneda’ street here in number 24, you will find your new house El Cenote Azul. It is located between‘Ezequiel Ordonez’ and ‘Leopoldo Salazar’ streets. If catching a taxi from the airport you will probably be better of printing instructions in Spanish and giving them to the driver, or print out the map. From the Taxquena Southern bus stop, you will have a much closer trip (15-20 mins) by catching a mini bus or collective taxi (called pescero) that goes to Metro Copilco, and should cost you 2.50 pesos (20 US cents) or a taxi, 30 pesos $3 US. |
