Property DescriptionHI - CALGARY CITY CENTRE Come visit our newly renovated hostel located in the heart of the city of Calgary! This is a great place to call home as you explore what Calgary has to offer. The freshly painted hostel, offers new washrooms, laundry room, large fully equipped self-served kitchen; a relaxing reading/internet room; an activity room complete with a 50” screen television with cable (FREE videos available), pool table and arcade games, and a lobby area with couches ideal to meet new friends and watch television. We offer both dorm and private rooms, all with new beds and mattresses. Our dorm rooms have a maximum of 6 beds and each dormitory room has their own individual lockers to safely store your belongings. Storage is also available for our guests after they check out. Our friendly front desk is available 24 hours to answer any questions about the city, tours, and activities, and are always happy to recommend cool places for you to check out. Did we mention that we have an activities board with daily listing of different events and a guest notice board for job postings, guest messages, ride board, mail, accommodation, and sale listing? Faxing, copying, and mailing services also available at the front desk. Exploring Calgary is easy from our central location - a quick walk takes you to the city centre where you can find dining, shopping, entertainment and cultural districts for every taste and budget. Other attractions are easy to get to with the help of the nearby Calgary transit C-train (FREE within the city centre). Speaking of free…the hostel now has FREE WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS, FREE PARKING, FREE STORAGE including BIKES, FREE LOCAL PHONE CALLS, and FREE ONWARD BOOKING FOR OTHER HI-CANADA HOSTELS for all our guests. If you are looking for more things to do, HI-Calgary City Centre offers activities including pub crawls, barbeques, movie nights, ice-skating, sport packages, and walking tours. We also can provide you with SUPER CHEAP passes for Fort Calgary and the Calgary Tower. During the winter months come and check out the ''Calgary Flames Hockey Team’’. We have some limited tickets available for all home games!! Due to the high demand on these tickets there is a minimum 2night stay required and all tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis. Ask when you arrive at our front desk!! Don't miss out in seeing this world class game!! While you are here, you can also ask our front desk staff to help you plan your sightseeing tours to the Rocky Mountains, Drumheller, historical sights, and British Columbia. Start going South on Barlow Trail toward 16th Avenue North East (Trans Canada Highway #1 East). 2. Turn right/exit onto 16th Avenue North East (Trans Canada Highway #1 East). 3. Turn left onto Centre Street North. 4. Turn left onto 9th Avenue South (Calgary Tower). 5. Turn left onto 4th Street South East. 6. Turn right onto 7th Avenue South East. 7. The hostel (reddish brown wooden building) will be next to the park on the corner. From Airport by Airport Shuttle Bus (30 - 45 minutes): Take the Airport Shuttle Express bus directly to the hostel. $14.00 for 1 person, $24.00 for 2 people, $27.00 for 3 people, and $27.00 for 4 people (discount offered for HI members). Book the shuttle online at www.airportshuttleexpress.com. From Airport by Calgary Transit (1 - 1.5 hours): 1. Take bus #57 from the airport to the Whitehorn Station. 2. Take a City Centre train for $2.25 and get off at 3rd Street South East Train Station (station after Bridgeland). 3. Walk a block back in the opposite direction of the train travelling. 4. The hostel (reddish brown wooden building) will be next to the park on the corner. To look up for the Calgary Transit schedules go to www.calgarytransit.com. From Airport (30 minutes): A taxi from the Airport to the hostel will cost approximately $30.00. From Greyhound/Bus Depot Station by Calgary Transit (30 minutes): 1. Take the FREE shuttle bus to C-Train line (10th Street South West C-Train Station). Ask the customer service agent at the greyhound station about the free shuttle bus to the C-Train line. 2. Take the train (free on 7th Avenue) to City Hall Station (5 stops). 3. Walk one block in the same direction as the train was travelling. 4. The hostel (reddish brown wooden building) will be next to the park on the corner. From Greyhound/Bus Depot Station (10 minutes): A taxi from the Greyhound station to the hostel will cost approximately $10.00. From Edmonton (3 hours): 1. Take Highway 2 South. 2. Turn right/exit onto 16th Avenue North East. (Trans Canada Highway #1 East). 3. Turn left onto Centre Street North. 4. Turn left onto 9th Avenue South. (Calgary Tower). 5. Turn left onto 4th Street South East. 6. Turn right onto 7th Avenue South East. 7. The hostel (reddish brown wooden building) will be next to the park on the corner. From Banff (1.5 hours): 1. Take Trans Canada Highway #1 East (this will become16th Avenue North West). 2. Turn right onto Centre Street North. 3. Turn left onto 9th Avenue South (Calgary Tower). 4.
