A few years ago Woody Allen filmed his movie Manhattan Murder Mystery at Hotel 17. Madonna has stayed here, as well as many other celebrity artists, models, and actresses. East Village:The East Village is perhaps the 'Social Mecca' of New York City. Much different than Greenwich Village, the East Village offers a more grungy, rock and roll type atmosphere. The East Village is home to many major acts of the past such as The Ramones, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, as well as many punk bands that still continue to play on. The Fillmore may not be alive anymore, but there are a lot of great clubs such as Coney Island High, CBGB'S, and Irving Plaza.
