The International Student Center will be your home away from home in New York City, right in the heart of Manhattan, in a beautiful and safe residential neighbourhood next to Central Park. Situated on the Upper Westside, the youth hostel is easily accessible by subway and buses. The youth hostel offers 50 beds in dormitory style accommodations, both single sex and co-ed rooms. Being that we are a 'youth hostel', we welcome guests who are between the ages of 18 and 35. Guest facilities Include . . . TV Lounge with large screen TV/VCR/DVD; Public phones, High speed Internet; Full Kitchen with stove, micro-wave, fridges; A summer garden; and an art gallery. We offer free linen (sheets/blankets). Guests need to bring their own towels. Check-in time:9 am-7pm. Reservations will be held only untill 8pm unless you call the hostel to set up a late arrival! Note: a valid photo ID (passport or US driver's license) is needed to check-in. Check-out time:10a.m. On your check-out day you can store your luggage at our youth hostel until 6pm for a fee. No curfew. You will be given a key ($10 deposit) so you can come back anytime of the night! The reception is open daily, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, from 8am to 11pm. Payment upon arrival can be made either by cash, or travelers checks only. We do not accept credit cards, but there are ATM machines nearby. Free secure storage: We provide a free storage room for large pieces of luggage; and a safe is availlable for any documents (flight tickets/Passports) or electronics (laptops/cameras) you wish to leave in a safe place at the reception. Duration of stay: For June people can only book for 1 week max. Age Restriction: People must be between ages of 18 and 35 yrs. Our address is 38 West 88th Street, mid-block between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West, near the 86th Street station on the B and C subway trains. To reach us from JFK International Airport: Take the free shuttle bus from the airport terminal to the Howard Beach subway station, where you can take the A train (25 cent coins or metrocard $2) going uptown to Manhattan and change to the C or B train at 59th street (Columbus Circle). Get off at 86th street and walk two blocks toward 88th street, we are located at 38 West 88th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. Take the Olympia bus ($14 ticket) from the airport to 42nd Street and Port Authority terminal in Manhattan. From here, take the C train (25 cent coins or metrocard $2) going uptown to 86th street. Then, walk towards 88th street. We are located at 38 West 88th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. From La Guardia International Airport: You can take the M 60 bus from La Guardia Airport to the last stop, 105th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. Then take the M 104 bus going downtown to 88th Street and Broadway. Walk two blocks from Broadway and 88th Street toward Central Park West Avenue (past Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues.) Alternatively, you can also take a taxi (approximately $ 30) from La Guardia airport to the International Student Center at 38 West 88th Street in Manhattan, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. From Newark International Airport: Take the AirTrain from the terminal to the Newark International Airport Train Station. Take the New Jersey Transit train to Penn Station in New York City (approximately $11). Follow directions from Penn Station (below). Or take the Olympia bus ($13 one-way ticket) from the airport to 42nd Street and Port Authority terminal in Manhattan. From here, take the C train (25 cent coins or metrocard $2) going uptown to 86th street. Then, walk two blocks toward 88th street. We are located in the middle of the block at 38 West 88th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. From Penn Station or Port Authority Bus Terminal: Take the C Subway train going uptown to the 86th Street stop, and exit on 88th street.
