Property DescriptionThe Wind Dancer Hostel is located behind the original Post Office in Datil, New Mexico. We are situated in the remote Datil Mountains, bordering the Gila Wilderness in the central western part of the state. The hostel is a completely renovated 600 sq ft. dwelling. It has a small kitchen and outdoor grilling area. Gallup, the "Indian Capital of the World" is three hours away. "Acoma Pueblo", the oldest occupied dwelling in North America, about 3 1/2 hours North. The VLA (Very Large Array) is located 10 miles east and is of great interest to many a soul and is very surreal on the plains of San Augustine. For climbers, Enchanted Rock lies a few miles to the west. Close to the hostel there is a restaraunt (American), Gas Station and small store about a block away. Open Spaces, quiet nights and starry, starry, skies! Previously AYH HI as the Buzzards Roost Hostel.  |

ADDRESSWind Dancer Hostel 201 Main Street Datil, USA DIRECTIONSUnfortunately, the nearest Bus stop is 72 miles east. Airport is 3 hours away and no train. Making for a stay in a remote part of the NM Rockies. At the flashing light in the center of Datil, (crossroads of Hwy 12, Hwy 60 and the Main street of Datil) turn east (will appear North on a Map) and Hostel is one block down on the North (left).This is the only street not a Hwy. Ask at the store if you cannot find, or call.There is a phone at the junction(at the New Post Office) or in the store. |
