GoNorth Hostel

Property Description

The GoNorth Center provides inexpensive accommodations for adventurers. You stay in comfortable tent-cabins and share a central cooking pavilion and wash house. Each of our tent-cabins has 4-5 beds each. Sheets and a pillow are provided, but towels and sleeping bags are the responsibility of the guest. 2 Tipis and several tent sites are also available.

We are located at a relaxing, wooded facility within short walking distance of important shopping centers. We provide full-service adventure tour and travel consultation, canoe, bicycle and camping gear rentals, air taxi bookings, RV/camper rentals for northern gravel roads, and transportation for paddlers and hikers.

At GoNorth Hostel you will find a comfortable bed under a dry roof, clean showers, clean toilets, telephones, fax and e-mail access, and a safe, comfortable place to socialize, cook, and plan your adventure.

DIRECTIONS

We are located at 3500 Davis Road, near University Avenue. From the Airport, head towards town on Airport Way. Turn right at the second light (University Avenue). Drive 1/2 mile, then left onto Davis Rd. We are 1 block down Davis on the right side.

Chatanika Gold Camp

Property Description

Located 23 beautiful miles north of Fairbanks in the Historic Chatanika Gold Country. Scenically located on 48 Acres the Hostel is situated in the wilds of interior Alaska. A full service restaurant, lodge and saloon is located on site.

Summer and Winter Activities:
Various year round entertainment activites make this a great place combine fun and relaxation. Contact us for current listings.

Outdoor activities abound, both on the resort grounds and the immediate area. Wide open spaces of interior Alaska allow you to explore trails for hiking, walking, wildlife viewing, biking, berry picking, and four wheeling.

This is a great gateway for exploring the White Mountains Recreation Area.

Chatanika Hostel is famous for viewing the 'Northern Lights' (Aurora Borealis) during the 'dark' months. You will not find a better place on Earth to see the 'lights'.

Winter activities include trails for snowmachining, cross country skiing. A downhill ski/snowboarding hill is close by.
In March the famous and unique 'Outhouse Races' take place in Chatanika (filmed by CNN)
First Alaskan winter breakup Harley Ride (usually in March or April with more than 200 participants).

The Gold Camp is also the perfect spot to view wildlife in its natural surroundings. During the summer and winter, moose roam the 55 acres in search of food. Fox, Wolves, Porcupines, and even Wolverines may be seen. During the warmer months, some beautiful birds and unique Alaskan flowers can be seen.

DIRECTIONS

The Historic Chatanika Gold Camp is located 23.5 miles outside of Fairbanks on the Old Steese Highway. Drive north out of Fairbanks on the NEW Steese Expressway. Follow the sings to "Fox" and "Circle". This will turn into the OLD Steese Hwy at Fox. Continue to head toward "Circle". At Milepost 23 watch for the sign indicating a right turn up the drive to the Gold Camp.

Billie's Backpackers Hostel

Property Description

Billie's Backpackers hostel is a modern, casual, clean comfortable home-style hostel with a very friendly atmosphere.

There are no more than 4 persons to a room. Sometimes the arrangement is co-ed. You have access to several shared kitchens, bathrooms, common rooms, decks and yard space.

Facilities include free linens, free storage, free tea/coffee, high-speed internet, guide books and maps, hammocks, BBQ, coin-operated laundry, pay phone and bike rentals.

The hostel is an excellent location on the city bus route in the university district, close to shops, pubs and bike/nature trails.

There are daily shuttles from the hostel to Denali, Anchorage,also shuttles Valdez, Dawson City and Whitehorse.

Billie's Backpacker Hostel is a great place to begin your adventure in interior Alaska and you won't find a place with a more comfortable friendly atmosphere.

BY SHUTTLE: If you are coming from Whitehorse, Denali, Dawson City Yukon, Anchorage or Valdez by shuttle, Alaska Trails, and Alaska Direct will drop you off directly here. Ask your driver about this service.
BY CAR
The hostel is located about 10 minutes by car (1 hour walk) from the Fairbanks International Airport. About 5 minutes from downtown Fairbanks.
BY TAXI
Ask the Driver to take you to Billie's Backpackers on the corner of Westwood and Mack. The one-way fare should be about $16 from either the City Center, Airport or Rail Station.
BY CITY BUS
City bus service is offered MON-SAT from the University, Aiport or the City Center. From the Bus Depot take the #10 - Red Line towards the Univeristy. Get off at Westwood Way. Walk one block. First building on the left. Look for the international flags

WALKING
From the City Center: (about a 25 minute walk). Walk North on Cushman until you come to College Road. Then left towards the University. Look for Westwood Way (about one mile after you pass by the State Fairgrounds). Left on Westwood. We are the first building on the left. a sign that says "Billie's" and international flags flying marks the hostel.
